About Jihad And The City

Well we are a bunch of University Students attempting to vent feelings and rationalize the happenings in our City, Community, Student Union and this world through this space. Although we have occupied this bloc, we do not plan on enforcing this occupation through concrete barriers that will prevent visitors from travelling though this site. Nor will we use security check points to make sure that individuals have the right nationality/race/ethnicity in order to comment. This blog is an expression of our thoughts on international politics, human rights, globalization, culture, and society with a focus on the City Muslim Community from a bunch of University Students perspective.

  3. Andrew Winkler Says:

    Hi guys,

I just want to let you know that I like your blog and would like to invite you to email me your new posts for republishing on ziopedia.org and links back to your site.

    Apartheid sucks – dismantle IsraHell!

  4. Concerned Jewish post-Zionist Says:

Don’t take Andrew Winkler’s opinion as any kind of truth, just because you’re angry about Israel-Palestine.

It’s like quoting from Israel Shamir to support Palestinian cause. Or thinking Gilad Atzmon has anything valuable to say which could help.

There are causes such as ‘giving up the right of return’ given by the Zionist state – so many British Jews have done this. There’s also the various Joint Jewish-Muslim groups in Israel-Palestine who work together despite the hard time that the Govt. and the Military and Media give them.

Andrew Winkler is not going to help you – he’ll just feed into bigotry, and make you want to blame British Jews in the same way as the BNP blames British Muslims. Don’t be fooled!

Winkler says ‘You Jews’ when he means ‘you Zionists’. and you decry the use of ‘You Muslims’ – when speaking about extremists. To paint a black picture about an entire religious group as an homogenous entity is wrongful thinking. Jews are not a race, and neither are Muslims. He’s feeding your prejudices. Please don’t do this. Jews are being used as human shields by Zionists too. Wake Up!

  5. Luther Blissett Says:

We agree with the above poster. Using the term ‘Israhell’ is a sure sign that Andrew Winkler is associated with ‘white pride’ and other neo-nazi supremicist groups. It’s what we call ’shibboleth’ – being a word or phrase or way of talking that gives away the place where a person is coming from.

There’s no way that republishing your new posts for republishing on ZioPedia with links back to Jihad & The City blog could be beneficial- in fact, such an association, in our experience, would be later used to smear your blog. Treat his request with great suspicion, and google for ‘israhell+white+pride” and see what you find.

Arm yourselves with information, and be careful of the language you use, since this really does matter.

  6. David T Says:

Why shouldn’t jihadis use racist language or associate with neo-Nazis? The occupy the same ideological space.

Encouraging them to disguise their true nature is a futile exercise. The truth always leaks out, and they’re left looking foolish and dishonest.

Far better that they are upfront and honest extremists, I say.

  7. utbah Says:

ah David T (Mr. Smearist) welcome to my crib. I hope you and in the best of health.

Let me make one thing clear, Racism be it against Jew’s, Christians, Sikh’s or Hindu’s is outlawed within Islam. I do not condone racism and whenever or wherever this happens I try my utmost best to stop it.

If someone makes a racist remark and apologizes I take their apology and accept it (unlike you Smearist’s) and end of story.

On this Blog, neither will I tolerate racism or promote racism. So if you see anything racist (note, Anti-Zionism IS NOT Anti-Semitism) please let me know, and I hope you enjoy and see the other side of story what is happening in Palestine.

  8. DR MI BAAP Says:

Can you do a blog on who semites are and how israelis are not semites. Good JOB.

  9. utbah Says:

You create a blog and do it and I will advertise it. We need more Bloggers spreading the truth and countering the lies being spread by Facists (Zionists included)

  10. Reclaiming Anti-Semitism Says:

Mitchell Plitnick; Jewish Voice for Peace; February 14, 2003

“Those of us who are involved in activism around Israel/Palestine, and take a position critical of the standard American and Israeli views of the conflict are constantly peppered with accusations of anti-Semitism; or, in the case of Jews, we are told we are “self-hating”.

Indeed, for Jews active on this issue, it becomes incumbent upon us to prominently and frequently argue that criticism of Israel is not anti-Semitic. It can get frustrating. Constantly engaging in the same argument is bad enough, but when that argument is over something that should be obvious — such as the right to criticize the actions of a state with one of the world’s strongest militaries, which has been in occupation of another people for 35 years — the argument becomes all the more tiresome.

In fact, it can become so tiresome that many people, Jewish or non-Jewish, who have to deal with it can easily become so frustrated that they cannot or do not wish to hear about genuine issues of anti-Semitism. It is fast becoming the cry of “wolf” that can portend a horrible fate down the road.

The argument has frequently served to be very disruptive to opposition to American policies in the Middle East, as has been demonstrated again recently in the very unfortunate flap over Michael Lerner’s absence from the invited speakers’ list at the anti-war demonstration to be held this Sunday in Iraq. (see JVP’s statement about this incident in this newsletter)

What is it we speak of when talking about anti-Semitism? The term itself is a source of some controversy. While the term “Semite” refers to a linguistic group which includes both Arabic and Hebrew, the term “anti-Semitism” was coined by a German Jew-hater, Wilhelm Marr, in the late 19th century.

He coined the phrase to refer to a new form of Judeophobia, one which is based on purported racial characteristics. In order to have a term that was easier to pass along than “Judenhass” (hatred of Jews), as well as a new phrase for his theory and one which denied the European heritage of European Jewry, he took what was at the time an obscure linguistic term and applied it to his racial theory of Jews and his ideas as to why they were genetically pre-disposed to threaten European society.

The actual term “Semite” is simply a way of grouping speakers of particular languages, including Arabic and Hebrew, and some other, mostly dead, languages. But anti-Semitism was, ironically, coined against Jews alone, despite the fact that, at the time, exceedingly few Jews spoke Hebrew.

Even up to today, it has been many centuries since any Semitic language was the primary language of the majority of Jews worldwide. Arabs, on the other hand, are, by definition, Semites, but were beyond the racist consciousness of Marr, who never encountered them.”

  11. Israeli writer is Swedish anti-Semite Says:

David T says: “Why shouldn’t jihadis use racist language or associate with neo-Nazis? The occupy the same ideological space.”

Jihad just means struggle or strive. By your logic, anyone involved in the marxian class jihad, sorry, struggle, is sharing the same ideological space as a neo-nazi – a ridiculous assertion on your part. Of course one ought to temper one’s language when searching for solutions – one can’t bring about peace using violent terminology – one can’t tackle racism and racist views using racist language.

Those who are involved in any struggle to make the world a better place, should avoid promoting those collectives or individuals who hold racist or antisemitic feelings against both Jew and Muslim – hence it will always be good idea to avoid neo-nazis and fascists and extremists of any kind, since all of those people are plagued with ill-motives, fear of other races and religions, and a dual hatred of all Semites.

Whilst it has been documented that in the past, both Zionists and Mufti Al-Hussein worked for a short time with Nazis and succumbed through fear to associate themselves with Nazis or adopt their rhetoric at one point or another, but they were by no means alone in their association with the Nazi regime, and neither were they the worst offenders – they were for the most part, victimised or used by the Nazi regime. It is those who funded the Nazi regime and those who commanded the Nazi regime, rather than it’s pawns who deserve continued condemnation.

People learn from the mistakes of others – fear obscures vison – today, both Jews and Muslims who are struggling to achieve peace, who may have been prey to hate rhetoric linked to neo-fascism or neo-nazism, are averse to falling for that trick again. We remember how fascism was dealt a strong blow at the Battle of Cable Street.

DavidT says: Encouraging them to disguise their true nature is a futile exercise. The truth always leaks out, and they’re left looking foolish and dishonest.

You sound like you’re exposing your true nature, in a futile exercise whilst harbouring delusions about Muslims and Jews, which leaves you looking foolish, and dishonest.

DavidT says: Far better that they are upfront and honest extremists, I say.

I say, you’re a bit extreme in your views on ’struggle’ which is odd, when you post a link to a blog claiming to involve itself in the old fashioned ’struggle’ of the workers, DavidT. How honest of you to be so upfront about your own extreme views!

How funny (peculiar) it is that you’ve become annoyed that blogs like Jihad and the City have become aware that they are being courted by neo-nazis masquerading as antizionists (e.g. ZioPedia) pushing politically toxic views upon them, in the hope that their quoting of their vile views will be used to delegitimise their support for peace between Palestine and Israel.

The writer above, Andrew Winkler, is a Jew himself, although he would hate to admit it (don’t forget his name is Winkler). He even made it to Masada2000’s list of Jewish leftists. He doesn’t believe that his third cousins were murdered by Nazis 60 years ago, but I do, as much as I believe in the empire state building, a round world, and George washington.
